I have a vision for Ainslie Village, to make it the best social housing precinct in Canberra, one that embodies not just the policies and goals of Argyle Housing and the ACT Government but makes it a model for other sites. A self-sustaining, supportive, environmentally sound, progressive intentional community that helps its vulnerable residents in ways they actually need, and provides them with opportunities to grow, learn new skills, help others and make money as each individual needs.
got some plans to try and turn Ainslie VIllage into Zero Emissions & near Zero Waste, while providing meaningful *and* money opportunities to unhoused (and crip) residents like myself.
I’ve been living here for the last two years, and have experienced varying amounts of push-back from management & unfortunately, way too much discrimination.
That’s ok though, 19 years physically crippled and 48 years neurodivergent has taught or more likely endowed me with a lot of resilience.
Which is probably a better inheritance than money, anyhow
A better and safer planet for the future generations would be an even better thing to pass on though, so let’s start small, in a little ‘village’?
I set up https://ave4.me/ as a collective to show off and eventually sell some upcycled/recycled creations, mainly out of plastic currently.
I made this lampshade for CatFes
